Renault, being as they are a company who sell mainly in Western Europe, don’t do pickups because too little demand at home. Hard though it is for Americans to understand, life in Europe is generally lived without the assistance of a pick up even if you’re in business.

Other places differ and now we have a new Renault pickup for the Americans, made in America.

Brazil is in America.

The Oroch is based on the Dacia Duster and comes with 1.6 or 2 litre petrol engines and manual gears. You’ll be able to get a four speed automatic if you must. If you’re in Brazil.

It’s much too small for the (North) American market and will never be sold there.

I don’t think it’s going to appear in Europe either, because it’s a pick up, but time will tell. VW eventually decided to sell the Amorok here, although it’s a rare sight.

Sure do. Not even businesses have much demand for them, never mind the general public.

Looks about the same size as the Subaru Baja. They did sell some of those here.

Because of your chicken tax it would have to be made there and that’s not going to happen.

Vans are more useful and excellent anyway.

But don’t they rely on vans? (basically a PU with a top)

You can stuff a surprising amount of stuff in an adequately shaped small car. A while back, Fiat released a stripped down version of the old Uno with blanked out rear Windows to use as a tiny little transport van, and it actually sold very well. Not to the working crowd though. Someone figured out the stripped out, powered up Uno Van is an awesome performer, so you can find lots of them in Track Days.

You’d expect vans to be designed this way but I can’t think of one that is. The Ford Ranger and Transit are based on completely different architecture as are the VW Amorok and Transporter. I’m not aware of van versions of the Hilux or Nissan Navara either. Pickups are rwd with a correspondingly high floor while most vans these days are fwd.

You can buy van chassis/cab units and have bodies built on them though like this

This is what Nissan and other makes are selling here. I assume rwd with a high top to give stand-up access.

That’s an odd looking one. Never seen anything like that.
